Etymology

Frome Copse and Hanger (both 6″). Cf. Fromelonde 1486Loseley , Fromeland t. Hy 8MinAcct , Fromesland 1602Loseley . The evidence is late and scanty. The land lies by a small stream, and it may be named from a lost river Frome . For this river-name cf. RN 166–8.
