Stockridings (6″) is Stockriden 1749 B, 1823 G, Stock Riding 1838TA . A similar name is found in other parishes (v. Index) and is not uncommon in modern field-names. The reference is probably to land which has been cleared of trees, leaving only stumps or stubs, v. infra 364–5.
