Etymology

Walcot Quarter (6″). Cf. Little Wades Gate alias Walcott Gate , Wallcott Feild , Walcott Feild Hedge 1641 Wych. The modern name is from Walcot in Charlbury (416). The earlier name of the gate appears as Lutleswadesyate 1300 Wych: the meaning is obscure.
