Notteridge Copse (6″) takes name from Naterigge (bis) 1231 Ch, Naterigg 1231 Cl, Notteriche 1551–2Survey , Nuttridge 17thSurvey , Notte ridge 1822 O.S.Ekwall (DEPN) assumes an OE  *næt , 'wet,' corresponding to OHG naz , OLG nat , for the first element of Nateley and Netley Marsh Ha and Notgrove Gl, and this word would be a possible first element here. Second element hrycg , 'ridge.' v. liii.
