Wellground Shaw
Early-attested site in the Parish of Goring
Etymology
Wellground Shaw (6″). Cf. Wellegrove 1363 Gor, 1366 Eynsh. If the first element is w(i)elle, this grove probably lay between Wellground Shaw and the river, and may be the origin of that name and of those of Grove Barn (6″) and Grove Fm, which are to the west. It is said to be 'ultra Appulhonger,' i.e. Beech Fm.
