Etymology

Oxlease (formerly in Maisemore), Oxelesowe 1518 GlR, Th 'oxlease 1539AOMB , the Oxeleas 1542 GlR, Oxlesewe 1542MinAcct , Oxleas (e )1542 ib, 1544 LP. 'Ox pasture', v. oxa , lǣs (dat.sg. lǣswe , which is often retained as leasow , lesor , etc. in Gl f.ns.); it was alternatively called Nunham (infra ).
