'Farm at a marsh', v. mōr 1 , tūn , grēat , micel , cf. Little Moreton Hall 306infra , The Lyme 12, Newbold 286supra . There is mention of 'the peel and the mote of Great Moreton ' in 1354 AD (C.6348), v. pēl (cf. 218supra , Peel 288supra , 327 infra , and NED s.v. peel ), mote .
