Etymology

'Ford used in summer', v. sumor , ford . The ford was probably a crossing of R. Dane, perhaps at Radnor Bridge infra . It is distinguished as in Northwich Hundred and as 'nether', v. neoðera , from Somerford Booths in Macclesfield Hundred 163. It adjoins Davenport and Swettenham 301, 283supra .
