Etymology

Quobwell Fm. Cf. la Quabbe t. Ed 1 RegMalm, le Quabbe c. 1300Malm , Quabwelle 1349 Ipm, Cobwell 1816 O.S. The first element is the dialectal quob , 'boggy place,' fully discussed in PN Sx 368, s. n. Quabrook. Cf. Quobbs Fm infra 261 and quabbe infra 445. well is a later addition. A small stream rises here.
