Etymology

'Azur's forest-glade or clearing', v. lēah . The pers.n. is ODan  Azur , ON  Ǫzurr , which appears as late OE , DB Azur , Atser (cf. Feilitzen 170–1). The interchange of ME  ley and -lagh is found elsewhere (cf. Healaugh iv, 240supra , and Phonol. § 20).
