Etymology

Fulneck, 1822 Langd, Fall Neck 1592 WRC 216, 1743 LdsM, the Falle Necke 1592 WRC 384, Fallneck 1771 M. 'Neck of land by the clearing', v. (ge)fall, hnecca . The estate was bought in 1744 by the Moravians whose original home was at Fulneck in Silesia; the older name was adjusted to Fulneck through this association.
