Etymology

'Wade's lands', v. land . The pers.n. is ME  Wade , ultimately from OE  Wada or Wædi (cf. Wadworth i, 59, Wadsley i, 213supra ). The name persisted locally as a surname, for Wadlands was 'in the possession of one William Wade ' in 1589Dep m.4.
