Merryfields (6″) is Meryfeilds 1595 SRS 20, 299, Maryfeilds t. Eliz ChancP 1, 328. This is probably from OE  (ge)mære as it lies near the parish boundary. For such a form cf. Merry Brook (PN Wo 13) and Merryfields supra 264.
