Etymology

Lockstrood Fm is Lockstrode in 1593 (DKR 38, 328) and may be connected with the family of Lokke who held land in Wivelsfield in 1491 (SAC 35, 33). So also we have Lockes croft in 1575 (Rowe), Lock Crofte , Lock Inhomes in 1544 (SAC 35).v. strod .
