Etymology

Inlegh (lost) was one of the 'borghs' of Baldslow Hundred, covering the parish of Westfield. It appears as Hynelag (1248Ass ), Inle (g )h (1279, 1296, 1327, 1332 SR) and Ingleghe (1316 FA). The forms are inadequate for any etymology to be suggested. Mr Ray suggests that the name may survive in New England House (6″) and Lane.
