Etymology

Danny is Danye 1343 SAC 62, 75, boscum suum de Danye 1355 Orig, Danny -Park 1582 SRS 19, 235, and gave name to Robert de Denye (1296 SR). The name is a compound of OE  denu or denn and eg , 'well-watered land in the valley,' or'with a swine- pasture.' The name must have applied to the whole area now covered by Danny Park. Danny itself is on a slope. For the a , v. Introd. xxvii. This name is identical with Denny (C).
