Etymology

Amiesmill Fm perhaps takes its name from the family of John Amyas of Beeding (1296 SR). In 1601 there is mention of Elizabeth Amye of Horsham (SRS 9, 30) and in 1651 of James Ameys ffarme (SAC 23, 285).
