Etymology

Peke's House is Peakes in 1613 (SRS 14, 131) and was doubtless the home of Thomas de Peke (1288CplM ) and Robert de Peke (1296 SR). Close by was Pekegate (1378Ct ). It is on the top of a small hill so perhaps we have OE  pēac , discussed in PN BedsHu 176. Near here must have been the stream called Peke or Pekeie (Bay 20, 21), the stream perhaps being the arm of the Cuckmere which flows at the foot of the hill. There was also a Pekeleghe in the neighbourhood (1287CplM ).
