Etymology

Woodhurst (6″) is Hoderslane 1476, Hodersbrooke 1513, Hoders , Huderste 1576 SAC vi, and is to be associated with the family of William le Hodere of London (1321 Cl) and William de Chenele, called le Hodare , who held land in Oxted in 1332 (Deeds Enrolled ). For the modern form v. Introd. xxv.
