Rye Wood (6″) is the Reye 1389, la Rye 1475, highway called Rye 1475 SAC vi, Ry 1535 VE, Rye boro 1576 SAC vi. This is probably ME  atte Reye , 'at the well-watered land,' v. eg . A stream runs through the wood.
