Etymology

Rose Fm is Roselandstrete 1475, land called le Rose 1513, Roselands 1553 SAC vi. In 1345 John, son of Richard le Smith, covenanted to pay yearly to Sir Robert de Stangrave, Kt, and Lady Johan his wife, a rose at the feast of the Nativity of St John the Baptist, for two pieces of meadow-land in Oxted (SAC vi).
