Etymology

This manor was a tithing in Cerne, Totcombe & Modbury hundred (because it once belonged to Cerne abbey, v. Hutch3 446), and seems to have taken its name from (Monkton) Wyld in Wootton F. par. infra . For the close manorial connection between (Wyld in) Wootton F. and (Wild Court in) this par., v. Hutch3 2264, 266.
