Etymology

Hickpots (6″) is Hickepot , Hickpotes (1561 ParReg) and is probably derived from the family of Humfrey de Hykeport (1279Ass ). It is impossible to say if this is a local name. Compounds of port (presuming this to be an English name) except with a descriptive element are very rare.
