Etymology

Berry Fm (6″) is the Berry c. 1600 (SRS 17, 199), Berrylands (t. Eliz ChancP), and is to be associated with the family of William atte Bery (1327 SR), atte Bury (1346 FF), v. burh .We do not know what this burh was. It may be the same as that which gave rise to the adjacent Burstow infra .
