Etymology

Heathen's Low (lost), Hethineslaweflat , Hethinesloweflat , Hethineslaweflat 1226 RegLich, 1226LichChart , le Hethine Lawe 1282BelCh . 'Burial mound of the heathen', v. hǣðen , hlāw . This is an example of the very rare appearance in actual name of a heathen burial-site, cf. Heathens' Burial Corner (PN Sx 236–7). Alternatively it may be 'Heðinn's mound', v. hlāw . This pers.n. is recorded from Scand. England.
