, Lodefield , Lodecroft , Lodehouse 1622Norf ; this name is not connected with Load Brook (RNs.) ; it refers to a moorland pass in the hills between Canyards and White Lee Moor ( grid 102 – 257945 ) , crossed by Load Field Lane ; doubtless the name is from OE  (ge)lād ' a water-course ' , possibly also ' a track ' , cf. the sense of Ch dial . lode ' a lane, a road across a mossor bog ' .
