Rivelin Side, Rivelin Side 1817 M, cf. also Ryvelyng (e )1441 Sheff- Man i, 45 (a pannage of swine in), 1442 Comp, quarrera de Riveling 1268 FF (probably near Rivelin Rocks), Ryvelyngden (e ), Ryvelingden (e )13, 1330 Hlm, 1332, 1383 Ipm, the chace of Riveling 1474 Pat, Rivelin Frith 1660Norf , the woods of Rivling 1791EnclA 55, all from the name of the R. Rivelin (RNs.). Rivelin Side (v. sīde ) and Rivelin Frith (v. fyrhðe 'wood') with the chace of Rivelin must have extended over the north side of the valley of Ryvelyngden (v. denu ).
