Etymology

is le gret parke of Farnham 1531 LP, le lytle parke 1577MinAcct . Cf. also Parkefeld 1352, the South park 1398Rental , Parkreed c. 1520MinAcct . For reed , v. infra 364–5 . The little park is the present Farnham Park . The great park lay outside it to the north and west , and its memory is preserved in the names of the three farms of Upper , Middle and Lower Old Park ( VCH ii, 584 ) .
