Tilfordhill and Tilfordhill Mill (6″). This site is identical with the pontem de Waneford of the bounds of Waverley c. 1140 (Dugd v, 241). It is Wanfordmyll 1535 VE, Wanford mill 1680 Seller. The first element may be OE wæ (g )n , 'wagon,' as suggested for Wanford Bridge (PN Sx 158).
