Etymology

, at the top of Pick Hill ( 6 ″ ) , was probably the home of Reginald de Pike (t. Hy 3Waltham ) and is called la Pyke (t. Ed 4Rental ) . Cf. Pickhill , Pickcroft 1467 WalthamD , Peke (upshire )1539–40MinAcct and Peakegrounde 1553 Pat . Probably from OE  pīc , ' point , ' cf. Pickhurst and Pick Hill(PN K 27, 359) with similar topography .
