Ed 4Rental (p), Wo (o )d (e )redyn (e )1495For , 1498 ER xiv, Woderydden 1567FF , Woderidding 1594 N, Wodredon alias Woddredon 1547 Pat. 'At the wood clearing.' This is from a lost OE  ryden , 'clearing,' ME  reden , ruden . Cf. le Woderedene (in Bocking) 1416Ct , PN Sr 361, 364 and infra 588.
