, White Shite Heth 1547DLMB , Whiteshitte Heath 1591ib , White Sheet 1811 OS , v. hwīt ' white ' ( cf. prec. , which is nearby ) , hǣð ; the second el . is probably scyte ' (steep) slope or hill ' , cf. PN Brk 903 where possibly analogous names referring to trackways on chalky ground , which may be the sense here , are differently explained . Cf. La Rygway Ed IHutch3 said to lie between Mannington and Uddens in the bounds of the forest of Holt , v. hrycg-weg .
