Etymology

'Hudel's farmstead', v. tūn . An OE  pers.n. Hūdel (a derivative in -el of the recorded OE  Hūda ) occurs also in Hudswell YN 245 and Huddlestone Sx 237. The theme Hud - is found also in OE  Hudrēd (Huddersfield ii, 295supra ).
