Etymology

Wrat Field (6″) is le Wrottefelde 15thThorney , Wrotfeld 1369, 1386Ct , Wratfeld t. Hy 8Rental , Wrat , Wret Field c. 1840TA . 'Open land where crosswort grows,' from OE  wrætt and feld . The forms in wrot (te ) are surprising, but they have their parallel in the forms for Wratting and Wratworth supra 122, 80. Cf. Wrottecroft 1385Ct in the same parish. Known also as Cakers Hill Field (1728Wisb ), it lies immediately north of Karrow infra 275.
