Eggs Hole is Eggishale in 1366 HMC v, 510. Possibly the 'healhof Ecg ,' but we should not have expected Egg in modern English. Perhaps it is for Ecgleshale from the pers. name Ecgel (cf. Edgington supra 519) when the g might be stopped before the following l .
