Padiam Sewer is Padyham Marsh 1368 Battle 81, Padihamesmerch 1375 HMC v.511, Padihammesherst , Padyhammesmers 1413Ct .'Pada's hamm.' For the medial vowel v. note on Mountfield supra 474. It is possible that the name is manorial in origin, deriving from someone who belonged to Padgham in Ewhurst infra 520.
