Etymology
This may be an isolated example of OE torr, rarely found east of Somerset. Cf. however Tor Hill in Wootton (Gl), (to þæm ) torre BCS 764. There is also an unidentified la Torre in North Stoke (Sx) (1275MinAcct ).
