Brigdens Fm and Hill

Early-attested site in the Parish of Glynde

Historical Forms

  • Brikedene 1296 SR
  • Brykeden 1340 NI

Etymology

Brigdens Fm and Hill (6″) was the home of John de Brikedene (1296 SR) and Robert de Brykeden (1340 NI). This would seem to contain the unrecorded pers. name Brica found in Brickendon (Herts), Brikandun , Brycandun (BCS 1050, 1306). The s is probably pseudo-manorial.
