Etymology

Ryefields Fm (6″) is Revelles 1440Ipm (VCH ), Reyveils 1616 SRS 14, 218. The forms are too late for any certainty as to its etymology. It may be manorial, a late corruption of such a name as' Revel's.' Cf. the history of Spinfield and Mansfield (PN Bk 189, 241).
