Etymology

Plotsbridge (lost) is Plottesbregg 1272 RH, Plattesbrigge 1308 Cl, Plottysbregge 1492Ct , Plottesbridge , Plottysbryge 1542, 1563 SAC 21, 199 and means apparently 'bridge of (or by) the plot of ground,' but it should be noted that the surname le Plot is found more than once in the early Subsidy Rolls, so that a pers. name of ME origin is not out of the question.
