Pixton Hill is Pykstones c. 1540 SRS 16, 25, 1545Ct , Pickstone 1562 ParReg, Pickstones 1593, 1640 SRS 14, 241, and probably takes its name from the family of Richard Pikstan (1296 SR). The name would seem to be manorial in origin.Cf. Peckstone's Fm in Stisted (Ess), the home of Thomas Pikstan in 1327 (SR ).
