Etymology

Buckwell Fm was probably the home of John atte Bukholte and Ralph atte Bocholte (1296, 1327 SR), v. boc , holt . Buckholt would be reduced in colloquial speech to Buckell (cf. Boxal supra 103) and then interpreted as Buckwell .
