Etymology

Mistlebrooks Wood (6″) is Mystelbroke 1548LRMB , Mistilbrok t. Ed 6Rental . The meaning would seem to be 'mistletoe brook.' It may, however, be that Muxenebrok 1303MinAcct , Muxenebroc 1349 SAC xviii, Muxenbrouk 1359Loseley (p), Mixenbroke 1484AddCh , 1548LRMB , Miskynbrok t. Ed 6Rental is the same name. If so the first element will be meoxen , 'dung,' cf. Mixnams supra 111.
