Lower Birtley Fm is Byrkley t. Ed 6Rental , Bourtley t. Eliz Musters, Burtley 1684 Musters, 1823 G, and was the home of John de Berkeleye (1332 SR). 'Birch-tree clearing or wood,' v. beorc , leah , and cf. Birtley infra 226 and Bartley Wood in Odiham (Ha), Berkeley 1236Ass and Bartley in Eling (Ha), DBBerchelai .
