Etymology

Busbridge Hall is Bursebrig (g )e c. 1252AD , 1279Ass (p)et freq to 1394 FF with variant spellings Bursebrygg (e ), Bursebrugg (e ), Bussebrigge 1398 FF (p), Bussebrugge 1448 Penshurst (p), Busbridge 1619 ParReg. The first element is uncertain; possibly it is the OE  personal name Beorhtsige . If so, we may compare Buzzacott (PN D 36).
