Etymology

Chesmore Fm (6″) takes its name from a Mr Chasemore who owned the place in the late 18th century. The earlier name was Dodewyk 1332 SR (p), Dodewikes 1396, Dudwyk 1413 AD iii, Dodewyk c. 1400 Chertsey (p), 1426 AD iv, Dudwik 1548LRMB , Dudwicks Farm 1842TA . This is 'Dudda 's or Dodda 's wic or dairy farm.'
