Longfords Ho, Longeford 1301 Ipm, Ric 2Rent , Langeford (p) 1327SR (p), Langford place 1463Rent . The house is near Gatcombe Water and doubtless by a river-crossing at 'the long ford' (v. lang , ford ). There was a family of Langford in the parish named from this ford (cf. also Burleigh supra ).
