Berehays Fm (SY 395953), probably to be associated with boscum de la Bere , clausum de la Bere , totam terram de la Bere c.1235 Hutch3 2270 (in Robert de Mandeville's charter to the church of Whitchurch C.) and bosco de Bere Canonicorum 1268Ass , cf. also Peter de la Bere c.1235 Hutch3, Laurence de la Bere 1253 FF, 1280Ass and the f.n. Great Beer 1843TA , from bǣr 2 'woodland pasture' or bearu 'wood', with hay 'enclosure'; for Canonicorum v. par. name supra . Beerlands Fm infra less than a mile E from here probably has the same first el. and may refer to the same feature.
