Parish in the County of Dorset
Etymology
The present par. is a comparatively recent formation. In 1894 large parts of the Shaftesbury pars. of St James and Holy Trinity were transferred to Cann for civil purposes, and at the same date parts of Cann were included in the borough of Shaftesbury, further parts being transferred to the borough in 1920 and 1933.
