Etymology

'The edge', from ecg, with grēne 2 'a green', lane , and sker (cf. dial. scar ) 'a rocky cliff, a scar'. The place is named from Edge Scar (109–478503). Little Edge is shown by Bryant at 109–472513 near Grange Fm infra , v. micel , lȳtel , parva , magna , and ēast .
